Senior Forestry Hirschfänger - WKC Solingen

German Senior Forestry Cutlass with the Maker Marks WKC (Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co.) Waffenfabrik, Solingen-Wald, knight’s helmet TM. Plain, gilted brass hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina to the unadorned spine, knuckle-bow and crossguard with fluted clamshell.  Off-white, nicely toned, genuine ivory grip plates show light surface wear with no cracks or chips, and are complete with three acorns without oak leaves on both obverse and reverse grip plates. Plated double-etched blade with tan leather blade buffer pad. Blade etch features floral motif flanking a central panel with hunting scenes of hounds, foxes, stag and doe herd with minor wear to the background frosting. Dent-free leather scabbard shows only minor surface wear with some scuffing to reverse, but  no rips, tears, or creases, and no damage to the reverse stitching.  Dent-free, upper and lower gilted brass plain fittings retain virtually 100% of the factory fire gilting and lacquer and are complete with both retaining staples. Nice WKC example with ivory grip plates recently obtained in Germany.
