RLB Officer's Dagger [1st Model] by Paul Weyersberg Solingen

This 1st Model RLB [Reichsluftschutzbund] Officer's Dagger is in EXC++ condition. The reverse ricasso is etched with the oval trademark of this firm. The ovals contain the firm’s name and location, Paul Weyersberg & Co. Solingen.

Grip: The pommel still has all of the plating across the surfaces. The grip is a carved wood base. The 1st Model RLB button is an excellent example, having the sunburst style edges. In the center are the initials of the organization, raised out in blue enamel. The enamel still appears to be intact within the depths of the letters. Below the initials is a blue enamel, raised mobile swastika. The nickel crossguard is with a short winged, Art Deco style eagle that looks to the viewer's right. The eagle's eye, beak, and feathering has all been hand-enhanced, and the plain wreath which carries a mobile swastika. The triangular quillon arms have three accent grooves cut into the obverse facings.

Blade: The RLB Officer's blade retains a nice shape with a good, needle-like tip. The reverse ricasso is etched with dual ovals containing the name and location of the producer, “Paul Weyersburg & Co./Solingen”. Inside is a downward pointing sword flanked by wheat sheaves. The original blue leather blade washer is in place.

Scabbard: The scabbard shell is straight throughout. The leather is in perfect condition, being the proper dark blue color, and with a very difficult to see seam on the left edge. The mounts for this scabbard are the nickel-plated type. These mounts are retained by headless, flush-mount side screws.

The original short hanging strap is in place about the carrying ring. It is of a brown leather which is still supple and in decent condition. This leather is retained by two oval disks, which are held in place by two rivet-like brads. The marked (Assmann, DRGM), solid-nickel snap clip is in place.
